 Cetyl alcohol also known as: 1-Hexadecanol, Palmityl Alcohol, Cetanol or Lanette 16,   It is used in natural cosmetics as a co-emulsifying agent to give consistency, emollience (prevents water loss) and stability to emulsions. It allows creams to thicken and provides a soft, nourishing and moisturizing sensation.
 
 It has an emollient action by preventing the desiccation of the epidermis by delaying the evaporation of water from the skin surface, leaving the skin softer and more flexible.
